Eduard Metzger

Eduard Metzger , also Mezger , (born February 13, 1807 in Pappenheim ; † September 16, 1894 in Munich ; full name: Friedrich Eduard Metzger ) was a German architect , painter and author , as well as a Bavarian construction officer and university professor .

Life

Metzger was born in Pappenheim as the son of building councilor Kaspar Metzger . From 1825 he studied at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts , where he was a student of Leo von Klenze and, until 1828, a student of Friedrich von Gärtner , who brought him to Athens on a building project . He completed the Siegestor in Munich for Gärtner in 1850 . In 1833 Metzger became professor of civil engineering at the Polytechnic School in Munich and in 1846 royal senior building officer.
