Johann Eduard Reichenow (born July 7, 1883 in Berlin , † March 23, 1960 in Wuppertal ) was a German protozoologist.

Life

Johann Eduard Reichenow was born as the son of ornithologist Georg Anton Eugen Reichenow and his wife Olympia Charlotte Marie. Cabanis was born in Berlin on July 7, 1883 . Reichenow was a grandson of the ornithologist Jean Louis Cabanis on his mother's side . From 1904 to 1908 he studied natural sciences in Heidelberg , Berlin and Munich , where he received his Dr. phil. received his doctorate . In Heidelberg he joined Landsmannschaft Zaringia .

After working as an assistant to Richard Hertwig to Reichenow 1908 as a research turned Laborers in the Imperial Health Office of Protozoology to. From 1921 to 1953 Reichenow headed the protozoa department of the Hamburg Tropical Institute . In July 1921 he qualified as professor of zoology at the University of Hamburg . He was also editor of the Zeitschrift für Tropical Medicine , the Zentralblatt für Bakteriologie and the Zeitschrift für Parasitenkunde . In November 1933 he signed the German professors' confession of Adolf Hitler .
