Eduard Schweickhardt

Eduard Schweickhardt (born October 27, 1805 in Tübingen ; † June 5, 1868 there ) was a German economist , university professor and politician .

Life

Schweickhardt studied philosophy and mining at the University of Tübingen from 1823 to 1826 and then became a smelting clerk in Abtsgmünd . From 1834 he was a Tübingen city councilor. Since 1838 he was - together with his brother Heinrich - co-owner of the mill in Tübingen. With the work The iron in historical and national-economic relationship he was in 1841 at the State School of the University of Tübingen Dr. oec. publ. doctorate and was then a private lecturer at the faculty.

From 1844 to 1849 Schweickhardt was a member of the Second Chamber and in 1849 and 1850 at the three constitutional revision assemblies of the Württemberg estates . On April 5, 1848, he took part in the Heidelberg meeting , then in April 1848 he became a member of the preliminary parliament in Frankfurt am Main . In June 1848 he initiated the so-called Schweickhardt giant petition , which, with 12,000 signatures, is considered the first mass petition in Württemberg .
