Eduard Simon (lawyer)

Eduard Simon (born August 24, 1805 in Hanover ; † March 5, 1867 there ) was a lawyer, senior judge and member of the Chamber of Lawyers of the Kingdom of Hanover .

Life

Simon came from a long-established Jewish family in Hanover. His great-ancestor Michael David became chamber agent of Georg I , Elector of Hanover in 1714 . He held a leading position in the Jewish community in Hanover .

His brother Israel Simon was an influential banker in Hanover around 1840 , who had close ties to the Hanoverian king and was considered his financier .

Eduard Simon owned a small summer house with a large garden on Königsworth Platz in front of the Clevertor near Hanover in the then still independent village of Königsworth . Instead of this summer house, Simon had a neo-Renaissance villa built by the architect Christian Heinrich Tramm in 1858-60 , the Villa Simon named after him .

Simon lived in this villa until his death in 1867; he was buried in the Jewish cemetery on Strangriede .
