Edward Żentara

Edward Żentara (born March 18, 1956 in Sianów , † May 25, 2011 in Tarnów ) was a Polish actor and director .

Life

Edward Żentara began his acting career in 1978 in the TV series Polaniecki family . He made his stage debut a year later at the Osterwa-Teatr in Lublin . In 1980 he completed his acting studies at the Polish Film School Łódź . He then got an engagement at the Polski Teatr in Warsaw . From 1983 to 1990 he played at the Stary Teatr in Krakow . In the 1980s in particular, Żentara was often seen in cinema and television productions. One of his most important roles was that of the writer Janek Pradera in Witold Leszczyński's The Ballad of the Ax (1985). He has also appeared in foreign productions, played the lead role of Baron Rumata in Peter Fleischmann's science fiction film It's Not Easy to Be a God (1990) and the title role of the Polish martyr Maksymilian Kolbe in Krzysztof Zanussi's Life for Life (1990) .

Since 2008 he has been the director of the Tarnów Theater. He committed suicide at the age of 55. His son Mikołaj is a singer in the Polish black metal band Mgła .
