Edward Dwurnik

Edward Dwurnik (born April 19, 1943 in Radzymin ; † October 28, 2018 in Warsaw ) was a Polish painter and graphic artist .

life and work

Edward Dwurnik studied painting from 1963 under Eugeniusz Eibisch and sculpture under Jerzy Jarnuszkiewicz at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw . In 1970 Dwurnik graduated from Krystyna Łada-Studnicka with a diploma .

From 1965 Dwurnik began to make drawings and watercolors independently of his studies. The highly regarded Sportowcy / Sportsmann series was created between 1972 and 1978 . Droga na Wschód / The Way to the East is a series dedicated to commemorating the victims of the Stalin era . Od Grudnia do Czerwca / December to June (1990 to 1994) commemorates the victims of martial law in Poland . Dwurnik has been working on the series Podróże autostopem / A Hitchhiker's Tour (cityscapes from a bird's eye view) since 1996. Edward Dwurnik lived and worked in Warsaw, where he died on the morning of October 28, 2018.
