The Museum Villa Haiss is a private museum for modern art in Germany. It is located in the Baden town of Zell am Harmersbach , a former Free Imperial City , in the Ortenau district , not far from Offenburg . The house, which was built by a manufacturer in 1830 and is now a listed building, was acquired in the 1990s by the gallery owner Walter Bischoff, who restored the villa and opened it as a private museum for contemporary art in 1997 after a two-year renovation period. A total of 850 m² is available for exhibitions. The museum shows a representative collection of paintings , photographs and sculptures of European and American art since 1945. In the park opposite there are five original elements of the Berlin Wall from the museum collection since 1999 . These are the only five contiguous parts outside of Berlin.

The permanent exhibition is presented on the two upper floors. The approximately 140 works in the collection shown include works by the artists Joseph Beuys , Jürgen Brodwolf , Christo , Yves Klein , Arnulf Rainer , Gerhard Richter , Julian Schnabel , Walter Stöhrer and Jean Tinguely . American Pop Art is represented with works by Mel Ramos , James Rosenquist , Andy Warhol and Tom Wesselmann . The photo department shows works by Thomas Ruff and Cindy Sherman, among others .

On the ground floor there are three to four changing exhibitions a year with works by contemporary artists. Among others, solo exhibitions by the artists Antoni Tàpies (2007), Max Kaminski and Bernd Mayer (2006) and Heinz Mack (2005) were shown. A retrospective of paintings by Joachim Hiller was on view until the end of December 2008 . In the second half of 2011 the museum showed photographs by Thomas Ruff from the series Architecture, Cassini, Machines, Night, Nudes and Portraits.
