Edward Lumley

Edward C. Lumley CM PC (born October 27, 1939 in Windsor , Ontario ) is a Canadian entrepreneur , business manager and politician of the Liberal Party of Canada , who was a member of the House of Commons for several years and several times minister and has been Chancellor of the University of Windsor since 2006 .

Life

After attending school, Lumley completed a degree in economics , which he graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Comm.). He then worked as an entrepreneur.

Lumley began his political career in local politics and was Mayor of Cornwall from 1972 to 1974 . In the general election of July 8, 1974 Lumley was elected as a candidate of the Liberal Party for the first time as a member of the House of Commons and represented in this until his electoral defeat in the election of September 4, 1984 the constituency of Stormont-Dundas .

In October 1976 Lumley took over his first government office and was Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Regional Economic Expansion, before he was Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasury Secretary from October 1977 to September 1978.
