Edward Singhatey

Edward David Singhatey (also Edward Singhateh ) (* 8. August 1968 ) was Minister of Forestry and Environment ( Secretary of State for Forestry and the Environment ) of the West African country Gambia .

Life

After attending school until 1987, Singhatey worked from 1989 to 1990 for the Gambia Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), the Gambian aviation authority, as an electrical engineer . In January 1991 he joined the Gambia National Army and completed a military officer career. This brought him to training in the United States , among other things , until he was appointed Minister of State for Defense in July 1994, immediately after the Jammeh coup . Singhatey was himself a member of the five-member military junta Armed Forces Provisional Ruling Council .

In November 1994 he was promoted to captain and was from September 30, 1996, after the 1996 presidential elections , first Vice President of Jammeh, until he was replaced by Isatou Njie Saidy on March 20, 1997 .

He has headed the Ministry of Forestry and Environment since March 25, 2005 , after having held the Presidential Affairs, National Assembly, Fisheries and Natural Resources , the Presidential Office, National Assembly, Labor and Communication & Information ( Presidential Affairs, National Assembly Affairs, Works, Communication & Information ) and Trade, Industry and Employment .

On September 17, 2007, Singhatey was replaced by Momodou Kotu Cham , who up to that point was the President's cabinet member with the longest tenure. He was also dismissed by Jammeh as general secretary of the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) party.

Singhatey is married and has four children.
