Edwin Sigismundowitsch Osolin

Edwin Sigismundowitsch Osolin (Latvian: Edvīns Ozoliņš ; Russian Эдвин Сигизмундович Озолин , English transcription Edvin Ozolin ; born February 12, 1939 in Leningrad ) is a former Latvian sprinter who competed for the Soviet Union .

At the European Athletics Championships in Stockholm in 1958 , he won bronze with the Soviet team in the 4 x 100 meter relay .

In 1960, he retired at the Olympic Games in Rome about 100 meters from the quarter-finals. In the 4 x 100 meter relay, he won the silver medal in 40.1 s behind the German relay with the Soviet team consisting of Gusman Kossanow , Leonid Bartenew , Yuri Konovalov and Osolin, which set a world record with 39.5 s put up.

Four years later, he reached the quarter-finals over 100 meters and 200 meters at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics . With the Soviet relay he came in fifth place.

At the European Championships in Budapest , he won silver with the Soviet team in the 4 x 100 meter relay.
