Eero Vaara

Eero Vaara (born December 5, 1968 in Ruokolahti ) is Professor of Management and Organization at the Swedish School of Economics ( Hanken School of Economics ) in Helsinki . In addition to his professorship, Vaara also holds visiting professorships and associate professor positions at EMLYON Business School , Copenhagen Business School , Lancaster University , Jyväskylä University and Lappeenranta University of Technology .

Career

From 1992 to 1993 Vaara studied at the Helsinki University of Technology and was also enrolled at the Helsinki University of Commerce . The two schools were merged in 2009 to form Aalto University . From 93 he only studied at the commercial college.

In addition to his professional activities, Vaara also invests his time in scientific societies. He is a member of the board of the European Group for Organizational Studies (EGOS) and works on the editing of well-known publications, for example for Organization Studies , Organization , Strategic Organization, Nordiske Organizational Studies , Scandinavian Journal of Management and Série K d'Economies et Sociétés.

Research interests

Among other things, Vaara researches changes in organizations due to mergers & acquisitions , strategic alliances and company closings. In addition, he examines discourse and communication in strategy , critical perspectives on multinational companies and globalization, and methodological and epistemological aspects of management and organizational research.
