Efthymios “Makis” Warlamis (also: Efthymis, Greek Ευθύμιος, “Μάκης”, “Ευθύμης” Βαρλάμης Efthymios Varlamis ; * 1942 in Veria , in Central Macedonia , Greece ; † December 27, 2016 ) was a Greek- Austrian designer Poet, writer, educator and museum founder.

Life

Warlamis studied at the University of Applied Arts Vienna , where he held a teaching position in the architecture department from 1974 to 1981, as well as at other European universities. In 1995 he headed the "World Ecological Academy of Santorini", which was carried out as part of a cooperation program between European universities. In 1988 Warlamis led the master class for experimental architecture “For a more natural and humane building” at the International Summer Academy for Fine Arts in Salzburg in collaboration with Friedensreich Hundertwasser .

Warlamis was a versatile artist. In addition to his basic job as an architect, he worked as a sculptor, painter, designer and writer. He has had exhibitions in museums and exhibition centers in Europe, USA, Asia and Egypt. His works are represented in international public and private collections such as the Graphic Collection of the Albertina Vienna, Museum of Modern Art Vienna, DAM German Architecture Museum Frankfurt, Alexander Jolas Collection, Lower Austria Collection, Liaunig Collection.

In 1992 he founded the International Center for Art and Design I.DE.A together with his wife Heide . in Schrems , which he has headed since then. He planned and built the Waldviertel Art Museum , which opened in Schrems in 2009.

Since 1975 he has been married to the artist Heide Warlamis, born in Klagenfurt in 1942, with whom he has a daughter. Since 1986 he lived and worked in Schrems.
