Egbert Verbeek

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Egbert Verbeek (born October 12, 1953 in Bad Honnef ) is a German painter, graphic artist and sculptor. His painting, which is often related to architecture, moves, like the object-oriented sculptural work, between tradition and innovation.

Life

Egbert Verbeek was born as the fifth son of the writer Helma Cardauns and the art historian Albert Verbeek . After graduating from high school, a large mural was created for the Newman House in Bonn in 1974/75 while he was still doing community service, which is now in the crypt of the Catholic university community in Cologne. He broke off his physics, German and philosophy studies at the University of Bonn in order to devote himself entirely to artistic training. Egbert Verbeek received a one-year art scholarship from the Catholic Academy in Stapelfeld in 1978, which resulted in a multi-part altarpiece. In 1982 he received a grant from the Art Fund Foundation. In 1987, a private scholarship enabled him to spend several months in Paris. In 1993 he was a guest artist at the Villa Romana in Florence. Since 2015, Egbert Verbeek has been a member of the jury for the Artist in Residence grant of the Catholic Academy Schwerte.
