The Eggentaler Bach ( Italian Ega ) is a 12.6 kilometer long, left tributary of the Eisack . The Eggentaler Bach drains the Eggental (165 km²). It arises near Birchabruck , where the Eggental branches into a southern and an eastern branch, from the confluence of the Geroldbach and the Welschnofner Bach . The only places on the Eggentaler Bach are Birchabruck and Kardaun .

The old name for the stream is Kardauner Bach, attested as early as 1190/96 in the tradition book of Neustift Abbey as "fluvius qui dicitur Kardun" or around 1500 as "Gardaunpach".
