At the beginning of the fall of the Wall (GDR) in 1990, Beleites made himself available to the medical self-administration that was to be established. As the first President of the State Medical Association of Thuringia, he was re-elected several times and was a member of the board of the Federal Medical Association. Under Beleites, the new building of the State Medical Association in Maua (Jena) was put into operation in 1997. He was now particularly concerned with questions of medical ethics.
