Egidio Negrin

Egidio Negrin (born April 4, 1907 in Santa Maria di Camisano , Vicenza Province , Italy , † January 15, 1958 in Treviso ) was an Italian clergyman and Roman Catholic archbishop .

Life

Negrin was ordained a priest on July 13, 1930 and then studied at the Pontifical Gregorian University until 1934 . He then worked as a professor of moral theology at the Vicenza seminary . In 1947 he became archpriest in Bassano del Grappa .

Pope Pius XII appointed him on May 24, 1952 Archbishop of Ravenna e Cervia . The episcopal ordination donated to him on June 29th of the same year Carlo Zinato , Bishop of Vicenza; Co- consecrators were Antonio Mantiero , Bishop of Treviso , and Giuseppe Zaffonato , Bishop of Vittorio Veneto . Due to various differences with the city authorities, Negrin accepted the office of Bishop of Treviso in April 1956, with the personal title of Archbishop.

After a long illness, he died in Treviso in January 1958 at the age of 50.

After his death in Bassano del Grappa, where he was archpriest for five years, the Via Monsignor Negrin was named after him.
