Antonio Mistrorigo

Antonio Mistrorigo (born March 26, 1912 in Chiampo , Vicenza Province , † January 14, 2012 in Treviso ) was an Italian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Treviso .

Life

Antonio Mistrorigo was ordained priest on July 7, 1935 by the Bishop of Incenza, Carlo Zinato .

On March 9, 1955 he was by Pope Pius XII. appointed Bishop of Troy . He was ordained bishop on April 25, 1955 in the Cathedral of Vicenza by the bishop of the Vicenza diocese , Carlo Zinato . His episcopal motto was "Sitientes, venite ad aquas" (You thirsty ones, come to the waters). 1958 he was by Pope Pius XII. appointed Bishop of Treviso to succeed Egidio Negrin . He took part in all the sessions of the Second Vatican Council and was its council father ; he was one of the initiators of the liturgical reform.

During his episcopate, the canonical processes for the beatifications of the Bishop of Treviso, Andrea Giacinto Longhin , the religious Federico Cionchi and the Istituto Cavanis founded by Basilio Martinelli were initiated.

On September 20, 1980 he was appointed papal assistant to the throne. He was prior of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem in Treviso . He was committed to the "Amici di Terra Santa". His resignation was granted in 1988 by John Paul II . He was an honorary citizen of Lorenzago di Cadore , where he met Pope John Paul II several times.

He was considered an expert on pastoral and spiritual liturgy and wrote numerous books and articles on these topics.
