Egon Krauss
Egon Krauss (born July 31, 1905 Vienna ; † March 13, 1985 Innsbruck ) was an Austrian organologist , mechanical engineer and mountain guide.
Career
Egon Krauss was the son of Alfred Krauss and Ida Gysela Weeber, married Krauss. In the 1920s he studied mechanical engineering in Vienna and learned the organ with Franz Schütz . From 1942 he lived in Switzerland, where he worked as a mountain guide and studied the electrified Swiss railways . After the Second World War he returned to Austria, where he was involved in the electrification program after 1948 , in particular in the construction of overhead contact line systems and pantographs for express trains of the ÖBB .
As an organ expert , Krauss was a consultant to the Federal Monuments Office for church organs and bells until 1976 . One of his first activities as a consultant was the supervision of the restoration of the Asamer Johann Anton Fuchs organ by Johann Pirchner in 1948. In 1968 he was decisively involved in the conception of the Rudigier organ in Linz , as well as in the restoration of the Ebert organ. Organ from 1558 in Innsbruck, which Jürgen Ahrend then performed between 1975 and 1977. In 1968 he moved to Innsbruck.
Krauss organized house concerts and promoted the training of organ experts, organ builders and organists , etc. a. Anton Heiller , Rupert Gottfried Frieberger , Reinhard Jaud .
Egon Krauss died on March 13, 1985, he was buried in Mariahilf .
