Ehud Asherie (born December 20, 1979 in Israel ) is an American jazz musician ( piano , organ ).

Live and act

Asherie lived in Italy for six years as a child before emigrating to the United States with his family when he was nine. In 1997 and 1998 he studied jazz at New School University ; he also took private lessons from Frank Hewitt . Stylistically based on the stride piano of his models Earl Hines and Teddy Wilson as well as the playing styles of the modern jazz piano , he released his debut album with compositions by Billy Strayhorn in 2000 with his Trio65 , with Joseph Lepore (bass) and Tommaso Cappellato (drums) . Since then he has presented a number of albums as a pianist on the Posi-Tone label, including a. with trumpeter Ryan Kisor as a guest musician. In 2010 he played a solo album with compositions a. a. by James P. Johnson ( Harlem Strut ), Duke Ellington ( Drop Me Off in Harlem ), and Thelonious Monk ( 52nd Street Theme ); In 2011 he recorded with Harry Allen . As organist he leads the bossa nova ensemble Bina & Ehud with guitarist Bina Coquet , with which the production Samba De Gringo 2 (2007) was created. Asherie performs regularly at the Smalls jazz club in New York .
