Ehud Gol

Ehud Gol (* 1946 in Jerusalem ) is an Israeli diplomat .

After doing his military service in the Israeli armed forces from 1964 to 1965 , Gol worked from 1965 to 1971 as an assistant in the personnel department of the Israeli Foreign Ministry. In addition, he studied international relations and political science at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem from 1969 to 1971 . Gol was now from 1972 to 1977 Vice Consul at the Israeli Consulate General in New York City and used his stay there to study American Studies from 1973 to 1975 at New York University . After his return to Israel, Gol worked again from 1977 to 1980 as a senior assistant in the personnel department of the Israeli Foreign Ministry. From 1980 to 1982 he served as Consul in the Press and Information Department of the Israeli Consulate General in Chicago . As Consul of the Information Department of the Israeli Consulate General in New York City, he held a similar role from 1982 to 1984. After various posts within the Foreign Ministry, Gol was Consul General in Rio de Janeiro from 1988 to 1991 .

From 1995 to 1999 he was Israeli ambassador to Spain with simultaneous accreditation as a non-resident ambassador for Andorra . His next ambassadorial post took him to Italy from 2001 to 2006 . He was also accredited as a non-resident ambassador for Malta and San Marino . During his time in Italy, Gol was also a non-resident ambassador for Albania from 2001 to 2004 and Israel's permanent representative to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome from 2002 to 2006 . From 2007 to 2008 he was the non-resident ambassador to Armenia , Tajikistan and Turkmenistan based in Jerusalem. Gol has been the Israeli ambassador to Portugal since 2009 .

Gol is married and has two children.
