The Eibl ( 1002  m above sea level ) is a mountain in the Northern Limestone Alps in the Lower Austrian municipality of Türnitz in the Lilienfeld district .

The hill is suitable for ski tours and easy hikes . The Teichhütte is located on its summit . On its north and east flanks there are around 70 hectares of pastures , on which around 80 suckler cows are raised during grazing from mid-May to the end of September .

On the small summit plateau at the Teichhütte there is an artificial pond that has become inoperable and that was once needed for the production of artificial snow.

From 28 January 1951 introduced a 1,700 m long, 450 meters above spiraling chairlift to the Eibel , the third created in Lower Austria Berglift . The construction of the new lift was considered around 2006, but could not be realized because of a dispute between landowners and lift operators. In April 2004 an all-weather toboggan run ( EIBL Jet ) went into seasonal operation near the valley station of the lift .

On June 30, 2006, the chairlift was officially closed due to obsolescence , the dismantling of the facility was initially postponed until spring 2007 and carried out in October 2010.

On April 21, 2011, the pond hut was destroyed in a fire. Reconstruction began in July. The shelter has been in operation again since Christmas 2011.
