Eicosadienoic acid is a doubly unsaturated fatty acid in the omega-6 fatty acid group .
Isomers
Eicosadienoic acid has two double bonds that can be in a cis or trans configuration.
The diene acid having two cis - double bonds is an isomer of the Keteleeronsäure , (5 Z , 11 Z ) -Eicosadiensäure.
Occurrence
(11 Z , 14 Z ) -Eicosadienoic acid occurs esterified as triacylglyceride in the seed oil of various types of conifers in amounts of up to approx. 25%, as well as in other plants. It occurs in small amounts in black cumin oil ( Nigella ), pine nut oil ( Pinus ), camelina oil ( Camelina sativa ), Krambe ( Krambe ) and coriander oil ( Coriandrum sativum ) and in borage seed oil ( Borago officinalis ).
