Eight Balls was a German Oi! -Band from Hamburg .

Band history

Eight Balls was formed in the late 1990s from the remnants of the bands Smegma and AAK . Right from the start you simply played Oi! and street punk . The band existed for several years with changing line-ups, but did not release their debut album Eight Balls until 2001 on LP and on their own. The only original member was singer Koma. In the meantime, Pierre, the main songwriter of Jesus Skins , had joined the band and was now responsible for most of the lyrics. Shortly afterwards, Koma left the band and was replaced by Felix. Then you signed a contract with True Rebel Records , which brought out the debut again under the title 1/3 Mensch 1/3 Tier 1/3 Bier . After they found a permanent drummer in Arne, the band released some sampler contributions, including a tribute to Bud Spencer and Terence Hill on Sunny Bastards and the compilation Skinheads against Racism on Nix-Gut Records .

In 2007 the label sampler Let the Bombs Fall with Small Town Riot , Jesus Skins and The Detectors was released . There was an indexing application to the Federal Testing Office for Media Harmful to Young People (BPjM) because of the anti-fascist song Das Germania-Haus brennt and the two songs Musikindustrie and Kings of Asi , which was not granted. In 2008 a new guitarist was added with Eike. The band played on the Force Attack that same year . In 2010 her last album Oi! The upper class . The band broke up in 2012.

Music genre

The band jokingly described their style of music as "Big Egg Rock'n'Roll", accordingly some songs are more obscene and dull in nature, as it is in the German-speaking Oi! is often common. The band positioned itself clearly anti-fascist and had several songs against Nazis in their repertoire. Musically leaned on the original Oi! from England and the German punk that was modern in the 1990s . But they didn't shy away from incorporating other musical elements. With the slime cover 1.7 per thousand blues they released a psychobilly song and for individual songs they leaned on genre greats such as the Neurotic Arseholes , Volxsturm or the Broilers .
