Eiki Eiki

Eiki Eiki ( Japanese 影 木 栄 貴 ; * December 6, 1971 ) is a Japanese mangaka from Tokyo who has been drawing manga since 1998. Most of her manga belong to the Yaoi and Shōnen Ai genres . Her real name is Eiko Naitō ( 内藤 栄 子 , Naitō Eiko ).

Eiki Eiki's grandfather is former Prime Minister Noboru Takeshita . The J-Pop singer Daigo is her brother. One of her friends is the mangaka Mikiyo Tsuda , also known under the pseudonym Taishi Zaō. They often work together, and Eiki Eiki sometimes acts as Tsuda's manager. Between their work Train Train and Tsudas Princess Princess , both also drew cross-over , first Eiki Eiki with Tore × Puri ( ト レ × プ リ ), which was printed in Princess Princess Volume 3, and then Tsuda with Puri × Tore in Train Train Volume 2 .

From 2006 onwards, several of her mangas in German were published by Egmont Ehapa in quick succession . Eiki Eiki was a guest at the Erlangen Comic Salon in 2008.

The mostly young, male figures in her works are drawn as typical bishons : androgynous, soft facial features, pointed chins and almond eyes. In the humorous scenes that are often predominant, the characters are portrayed in a super deformed style. She mostly uses abstract patterns as backgrounds, as well as realistic, but simple everyday scenes. For this she often uses grid foil. Eiki Eiki also tells stories with a more tragic or dramatic background with humor and a positive mood. The content ranges from the comedy Train Train , which is about a train station run almost exclusively by beautiful young men without same-sex relationships, to more serious stories about homosexual romances with personal drama or political entanglements such as Dear Myself and Prime Minister . Your current series, humorous Love Stage !! is about the love between a budding mangaka and an actor.

The German magazine Animania praises Eiki Eiki's confident narrative style and the successful conveyance of even serious topics with a positive mood and loosened up with situational comedy . Eiki Eiki is one of the most popular artists in the genre. Jason Thompson calls Eiki Eiki's story Dear Myself , ambitious and empathetic at times, but some loveless scenes ruined the work. Ren'ai Kofukuron is told a little better. He describes her drawing style as " hasty and arbitrary ".
