Hans-Joachim Sopart

Hans-Joachim Sopart (born January 23, 1950 in Dessau ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Life

After attending the Polytechnic High School in Dessau and the Extended High School in Halle as well as an apprenticeship as a nurse completed at the same time , he began studying human medicine at the University of Halle , which he completed in 1974. Then he was trained as a specialist in urology at the Magdeburg District Hospital until 1979 . In 1983 he took over a senior physician position in the urological clinic.

In 1984 he joined the GDR CDU . After the fall of the Berlin Wall he was elected to the Burg Kreisag and took over the chairmanship of the CDU parliamentary group .

In the federal election in December 1990, Sopart was elected to parliament as a direct candidate for the Elbe-Havel district and Haldensleben-Wolmirstedt constituency. However, he gave his mandate back on January 3, 1993.

From then on, Sopart devoted himself to his medical activities again. In December 2005 he was appointed chief physician of the urological clinic at Magdeburg Municipal Hospital . Politically he was still active as a member of the city council in his home town of Gommern ; there he resigned in July 2007 as well.
