A star (... that bears your name) is a hit by the Austrian singer Nikolaus Presnik alias Nik P. from 1998. In the version of the singer DJ Ötzi , who also comes from Austria, it became a success in German-speaking countries together with Nik P. and leads (together with Butterfly by Danyel Gérard ) the all-time list of the most successful singles in German chart history (256 points each).

history

The song was written and composed by Nikolaus Presnik back in 1998. Interpreted by Michael Stern , it took part in the Schlager Grand Prix that same year , where it came in tenth.

It was played a lot in the club scene in Mallorca at the end of 2006 and thus brought to new prominence. It was released in February 2007 in the version by DJ Ötzi together with Nik P. as the first single from DJ Ötzi's album Sternstunden and reached number one in the German and Austrian charts and number two in the Swiss charts . Four years after the success of the Burger Dance , DJ Ötzi achieved another number one hit in Germany with Ein Stern and, after Anton from Tyrol (1999), the second hit, which also reached number one in the Austrian charts .

At 108 weeks in the German charts, it is the fourth-longest song in the German charts. At the time of publication, it set a new record. It was also the first track that had been in the German charts for more than two years. In the Ultimate Chart Show of the broadcaster RTL the song was placed at number 1 of the “most successful songs of the new millennium”.

With more than 1.2 million units sold, the single was awarded platinum four times in Germany, making it one of the best-selling German hits and generally one of the best-selling singles in Germany .

Even before DJ Ötzi and Nik P. released the song together, the Duisburg singer Nic (singer) was able to successfully place himself in the single charts with his own version of "A star (... that bears your name)".

There are over 30 cover versions of the song, u. a. by Peter Wackel (Spanish), Mariusz Kalaga (Polish - "Jedna z gwiazd"), Klaus & Klaus , Stefan Peter feat. Gotthilf Fischer , Mike Krüger and the Belgian singer Christoff.
