location

The building is in the southern part of Kramerstrasse and is now number 33. The southern part of the house borders on Kreuzstrasse.

history

The house used to bear the inscription Ludovicus Conrater ao 1454 erat ardificans , which was lost during a renovation. Accordingly, the house was built in the 15th century, but heavily rebuilt and changed in the 16th and 17th centuries. The facade was redesigned in the 19th century. Inside, stucco ceilings were drawn in and decorated with frescoes in the 18th century. In the 17th century an arcade was built in the inner courtyard. The house was used as a pharmacy throughout the entire period. Today there are medical practices and apartments on the upper floors. Only the ground floor was still used as a pharmacy, which has been closed since March 2019. After extensive renovations, a cigar house was opened there in 2020.

Appearance

The three-storey gable building has a neo-baroque facade. On the ground floor there are arched windows and a portal . The central axis is flanked by two pilasters . The ground floor is separated from the upper floors by a tendril frieze with a pharmacist emblem and a unicorn . This equipment should come from the baroque . A terracotta frieze with sphinxes and urns separates the first from the second floor. On each side of the neo-baroque gable there are two statues of seated unicorns.

The first floor juts out over an arched frieze on consoles on the south side of the building. Behind the house is an inner courtyard shielded from the street by a wall. A portico was built into this in the 17th century on the east and north sides. This has twisted wooden balusters from the time it was built.
