Eino Tamberg

Eino Tamberg (born May 27, 1930 in Tallinn ; † December 24, 2010 there ) was an Estonian composer .

Tamberg studied at the Tallinn Conservatory with Eugen Kapp . From 1953 to 1959 he was a sound engineer at Estonian Radio , then artistic advisor to the Estonian Composers Association. Since 1968 he has worked as a lecturer and since 1978 as a professor of composition at the Estonian Academy of Music . In 1974 he became secretary of the Estonian Composers' Union. He founded his own school of composition, from which musicians such as Raimo Kangro , Peeter Vähi , Margo Kõlar , Toivo Tulev , Mari Vihmand and Mart Siimer emerged . In 1999 he was awarded the Estonian State Culture Prize.
