Chureb railway accident

The railway accident Chureb was a collision of the Indian gorakhdham express (Hindi: गोरखधाम एक्सप्रेस) on one in the station of Chureb stationary freight train on 26 May 2014 at 10:30. At least 28 people were killed.

Starting position

The Gorakhdham Express with the train number 12556 is a train of the North-Eastern Railways of the Indian State Railways . He runs between Hisar on New Delhi to Gorakhpur . The train belongs to the class of train Superfast Train to. It is usually made up of 24 cars , including eight sleeping cars and a dining car . Due to an incorrectly set signal , the Gorakhdham Express ran into a freight train standing in Chureb station , which was on a parallel track to the track that the Gorakhdham Express should have used. In the collision, the locomotive and three cars of the passenger train were smashed, six others derailed. The majority of the kinetic energy of the impact was absorbed by crowded seated cars without reservation . Most of the people died here. Of the derailed carriages, there were four more seated cars without a reservation requirement, an air-conditioned 1st class seated car  (AC coach) and an air-conditioned 1st class sleeping car (AC two tier).

At least 28 people were killed, 105 others were injured, 53 of them seriously. The victims were mostly farm workers driving home from Haryana state . But the Beimann the engine driver arrived at the accident killed.

The day after the accident, the Indian Minister of State Manoj Sinha visited the scene of the accident. The official accident investigation began on May 28, 2014. The rescue and recovery work lasted several days.

Another accident

The same train was involved in a serious accident on January 2, 2010 when it collided with the Prayag Raj Express in thick fog as it entered Panki station . 10 people died.
