Iron chloride sulfate is a chemical compound from the group of sulfates . It is usually available in the form of an almost odorless, brownish 10 to 40 percent solution in water.

Extraction and presentation

Ferric chloride, sulfate, by oxidation of iron (II) sulfate with chlorine are obtained.

It is also created as a secondary product during the extraction of titanium dioxide .

Iron chloride sulfate hydrolyzes, producing iron hydroxide and dilute hydrochloric and sulfuric acids .

use

Iron chloride sulphate is used as a precipitant and flocculant (e.g. in wastewater treatment to remove phosphorus ).
