Eitzen I

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Eitzen I (so called to distinguish it from Eitzen II, a district of Hanstedt ) is a district in the unitary community of Bienenbüttel in the Uelzen district in Lower Saxony. The place is about 3.5 kilometers west of Bienenbüttel as the crow flies.

geography

Eitzen I can be reached from Bienenbüttel in a north-westerly direction via Lüneburger Strasse ( Bundesstrasse 4 ) and then in a south-westerly direction via Eitzener Strasse just under six kilometers away. Eitzen I is about ten kilometers south of Lüneburg. Eitzen I includes Gut Bardenhagen, which is a further two kilometers west of Eitzen I on state road 233 ( Lüneburg - Melbeck - Ebstorf ) and today houses an event hotel.

The Eitzener Bach flows south of the center of Eitzen I, then swings in a northerly direction to Grünhagen and there flows into the Ilmenau .

history

The place is located in a room that has been continuously inhabited since the 8th century. Several barrows and a house of the dead are evidence of the much earlier settlement in the Bronze Age. Eitzen I is probably first mentioned in a document in the Verden 1 document book under no. 433, where Eyshusen is mentioned for the year 1252. In the 14th century, the sale of the five farms in Eitzen from the possession of the Lüneburg mayor Hartwig von Sülten to the St. Michaelis monastery in Lüneburg is still documented.

After the creation of the Prussian districts on May 6, 1884, Bardenhagen came to Eitzen I. In 1966, Eitzen I merged with other communities and Bienenbüttel to form the municipality of Bienenbüttel.

On July 1, 1972 Eitzen I was incorporated into the unitary community of Bienenbüttel.

After the municipal reform in 1972 , there were no more mayors or municipal councils in the current districts. However, a volunteer mayor is appointed for each district. For Eitzen I is the mayor: Annegret Päper (as of 2010)
