Ekerö is a place ( tätort ) in the Swedish province of County of Stockholm and the historical province of Uppland . Ekerö is also the capital of the municipality of the same name . The place is located on an island in Lake Mälaren and is connected to the surrounding area by bridges and ferry lines.
The Svartsjö rune stone (U 35) is located in the municipality of Ekerö, on Färingsö, near Svartsjö Castle.
