Ekkebrecht of Grifte even "Eckebrecht" (* 1342 () on the? Burg Grifte in Grifte ; † after 1406 ) was a noble suitor , bailiff and Castellan in northern Hesse .

Life

Ekkebrecht belonged to the Hessian ministerial family of those "von Grifte" and was a feudal man of the Landgraves of Hesse . He was bailiff in Gudensberg and bailiff of the Obernburg there , which he successfully defended against Kurmainzer troops in 1387 . In the annals he is described as a brave, courageous and deserving fighter in defense. As a reward, he received from Landgrave Hermann II in 1388 the part of Falkenstein Castle near Niedenstein , which Ludwig von Wildungen had previously owned, and which he now shared with the family of the Hund von Kirchberg. In 1406 he acquired a third of Schönstein Castle and the office of Schönstein near Gilserberg , which Count Gottfried IX gave him . and Johann II von Ziegenhain pledged. This pledge was redeemed again in 1420 by the counts of Ziegenhain for 160 guilders, as his widow Elisabeth Schenck von Schweinsberg stated.

Ekkebrecht and his wife Elisabeth had at least three sons known by name, Heinrich, Eckbert and Henne. In 1430 you were involved in an inheritance dispute over Hund's share in Falkenstein Castle, which the Landgrave was able to settle only with considerable effort and after a long time.
