life and work
Ekkeland Götze studied at the evening school of the Dresden University of Fine Arts and later worked there as a teacher for screen printing . In 1988 he moved from Dresden to Munich .
He has been working on a "picture of the earth" since 1989. To this end, he takes soil samples from event-shaped locations in human history on all continents within individual projects. He prints these on paper, frescoed on fresh lime mortar or other substrates using a process he calls “terragraphy”. The resulting complete work is entitled "EARTH". He summarized images of the earth from 13 projects in an artist's book , supplemented with texts, serigraphs, photographs or graphics.
In 2018 Götze was awarded the Water Lily Prize of the City of Munich.
