Doris Liebermann

Doris Liebermann (born December 17, 1953 in Leimrieth ) is a German author and journalist.

Life

Doris Liebermann studied theology at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena . After collecting signatures in the Junge Gemeinde Stadtmitte on November 18, 1976 against Wolf Biermann's expatriation , she was temporarily arrested and later exmatriculated. Doris Liebermann had copied the writer's petition on typewriter, which Jürgen Fuchs had sent her over the phone. In 1977 he was expatriated to West Berlin together with the "subversive Jena group" around the writer Jürgen Fuchs, who had been persecuted for a long time by employees of the Ministry for State Security . She completed a degree in Eastern European History and Slavic Studies in West Berlin.

Since 1983 she has been working as a freelance writer for radio, television and print media and has realized feature productions on Eastern European and GDR topics. For their feature “Golden locks and rusty trumpets. What connects the Schlesische Funkstunde with Radio Wroclaw ”(Prod .: Deutschlandfunk 1995) it was awarded a radio award. Your two features “We fled from Hitler. The other Sudeten Germans ”(Prod .: Deutschlandfunk / Český rozhlas Praha 1999) and“ Tomáš Bat'a. The Czech Shoe King and his Empire ”(Prod .: MDR 2002) were premiered in the Czech Embassy in Berlin under the patronage of the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Germany, František Černý . In 1998, together with Jürgen Fuchs, she published the book “Dissidents, Presidents and Greengrocers. Czech and East German dissidents 1968-1998 ” .

From 2004 to mid-2007 Doris Liebermann was a board member of the Foundation for Coming to terms with the SED dictatorship . In 2005/2006 she worked with the Polish translator and founder of the German Poland Institute in Darmstadt, Karl Dedecius , on his autobiography “A European from Lodz” (Suhrkamp 2006). Then she wrote the artist biography “The re-education of the birds” with the painter Hans-Hendrik Grimmling , named after one of the most important triptychs of his early work (Mitteldeutscher Verlag Halle 2008). She is a member of the Authors' Circle of the Federal Republic of Germany , the PEN Center for German-Speaking Authors Abroad and the human rights organization Memorial .
