El'ad or Elad ( Hebrew אלעד) is a planned city in Israel in the central district , east of the greater Tel Aviv area . It lies between Rosh HaAyin and Shoham . Her name means "God forever". The name giver for the modern city is a member (1 Chronicles 7:21) of the biblical tribe Ephraim located here .
history
The city was founded in 1998 to provide more housing for the rapidly growing ultra-Orthodox Jewish population. In particular, it is considered the satellite city of Bnei Brak , where there are hardly any reserves left for housing construction.
In February 2008, Elʿad received city administration status .
Elʿad already had 36,000 inhabitants in 2009, and 47,866 in 2018. It is considered to be one of the fastest growing cities in Israel.
