Elektra (Thebes)
Elektra ( Greek Ἠλέκτρα ) is a person from Greek mythology . She was a sister of Cadmos . The Elektra Gate in Thebes is said to have been named after her. She is probably identical with Elektra , the daughter of Atlas.
Source is Pausanias , as well as Scholia to Apollonios of Rhodes . Actually, the Pleiad Elektra has been handed down as the mother of Harmonia , thus as the mother-in-law of Kadmos. However, this tradition is only handed down by Diodorus . Since, according to conventional genealogy, Harmonia is the daughter of Ares and Aphrodite , on the other hand a sister of Kadmos named Elektra is not otherwise recorded, there is uncertainty here.
In Nonnos , as a harmonization of both traditions, Elektra appears as the educator of Harmonia.
