Georg Klusemann
Georg Klusemann (born May 13, 1942 in Essen , † May 4, 1981 in Pisa ) was a German painter and children's book author.
Although he was only 38 years old when he died, Georg Klusemann left an extensive work behind him.
Georg Klusemann belongs to the group of German artists such as Werner Gilles , Eduard Bargheer or Gerhard Hoehme , in whose work a specific experience of Italy became effective. After studying at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1962 to 1968, there lastly as a master class student with the stage designer Teo Otto , and after extensive study trips that took him a. a. to Spain, the Middle East or South America, his artistic work gained a clear profile of its own in the years around 1970. Diverse impulses of European painting, sometimes more or less clear, whether by Joan Miró , Victor Vasarely , Giorgio Morandi or Domenico Gnoli , from Surrealism or Op-Art, are processed in the work, transformed into its own concept.
Georg Klusemann worked as a painter, draftsman, graphic artist, poet and children's book author. His estate includes around 350 paintings, 330 prints, hundreds of hand drawings, gouaches and watercolors, as well as a lyric work and art fairy tales. His children's books have been published by Peter Hammer Verlag and Beltz & Gelberg . A complete catalog raisonné has been published on behalf of the Rhineland Regional Association and the Rheinisches Landesmuseum Bonn .
Georg Klusemann's paintings and graphic works have been shown in more than 40 exhibitions in France, Spain, Italy, Germany, the USA and Venezuela. The most important exhibitions after his death took place at the Folkwang Museum in Essen, the Kunstverein für die Rheinlande und Westfalen in Düsseldorf, the Goethe-Institut New York, the Museo Bagatti Valsecchi in Milan and the Museo d'arte contemporanea Villa Croce in Genoa.
He is with individual works in the Metropolitan Museum in New York, in the Museum of Modern Art in New York, in the Albertina in Vienna, in the Rheinisches Landesmuseum in Bonn, in the Museo d'arte contemporanea Villa Croce in Genoa, in the Museo de Bellas Artes in Caracas and represented in numerous private collections.

Georg Klusemann is the main character in a documentary film produced by ARTE . The film shows his daughter Caterina Klusemann's search for her deceased father. In the film, his wife Elena Hochman-Klusemann and friends Ingrid Bachér , Ulrich Erben , Hans-Joachim Gelberg and Hermann Schulz have their say.
