Ingrid Bachér

Ingrid Bachér (born September 24, 1930 in Rostock ) is a German writer .

Life

Ingrid Bachér is a great-granddaughter of Theodor Storm and grew up as the daughter of chemistry professor and Storm grandson Franz Bachér (1894–1987) in Berlin and Lübeck ; her brother was the journalist and author Peter Bachér .

After studying at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater , she worked as a journalist from 1949 . In the 1950s she attended Group 47 meetings and toured Finland and South America .

From 1960 to 1967 she lived in Rome , then as a freelance writer in Munich , Krefeld and finally in Düsseldorf . Since 1966 she has been married to the painter Ulrich Erben , with whom she has three children.

Ingrid Bachér has been a member of the Association of German Writers since 1971 . From 1982 she was a member of the PEN Center of the Federal Republic of Germany and was elected President in May 1995. In November 1996 she announced her resignation in protest against the debate about merging the West German with the East German PEN center and left the PEN.

Ingrid Bachér is the author of books for young people , travel reports as well as radio and television plays , often for WDR .

From 2002 to 2004 she was chairwoman of the Heinrich Heine Society . Since 2013 she has been an honorary member of the Else Lasker Student Society .
