Elhausen is a district of the town of Plettenberg in the Märkisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The small town is located in the northern urban area of ​​Plettenberg on the Jeutmecke and the Lenne , northwest of the village of Ohle and southeast of Hilfringhausen. The Jeutmecke flows through Elhausen and flows into the Lenne.

Local public transport is operated by Märkische Verkehrsgesellschaft with lines 274 and 275. The nearest train station is about 4 km away in the district of Eiringhausen . Elhausen is connected to national road traffic via the federal highway 236 .

Events have been taking place in the local "Landcafe zum Erlental" since 2011. This includes a Christmas market, where regional products are also offered. The country café is located in a farmhouse that was converted into a restaurant with a bowling alley in 1964. In 1997 the "Restaurant zum Erlental" was last managed there and then converted for residential purposes.

Elhausen is first mentioned in 1311 as Edelosen . In the following years the names Edelhusen (1375) and Elhuysen (1536) are found. Additional attributes can be found in the Dössel historical sources in 1651. It is written by Nideren Elhausen and Oberen Elhausen . This could refer to the location on the Jeutmecke or on the Lenne.
