Köbbinghausen is a district of the town of Plettenberg in the Märkisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia . The former farmers have retained their rural appearance to this day.

geography

Köbbinghausen is located in the central Elsetal , west of the core town of Plettenberg, in the Märkisches Sauerland . Neighboring towns are Holthausen , Bremcke and Hüinghausen .

history

The area around Köbbinghausen was settled as early as 700 AD. The first secured documentary evidence exists from 1405. Theod. oppme Kampe de Kubbinchusen is mentioned as a former resident.

In a feud damage list from 1486 eight farmsteads were as free goods called, which means that the farmers owners were their farms. These eight goods are also mentioned in the Schatboick in Marck , a register of the county of Mark from 1486.

Around the year 1590 an Osemundhammer with smelting and ironworks was built. Nine farms were named for the year 1700. A chapel dedicated to St. Michael was built in the Middle Ages; it was mentioned in 1755 as still existing. In 1820 the construction of a bakehouse began, which is still in use today.

traffic

The place was connected to the Plettenberg – Herscheid railway line through the Köbbinghausen station , on which passenger services were carried out from 1915 to 1965. After the cessation of freight traffic in 1969, the line was dismantled, but later rebuilt for museum traffic by the Märkische Museum-Eisenbahn on the old route.

At the beginning of the 20th century, there were plans to connect the Volmetalbahn (Hagen – Dieringhausen railway) to the Plettenberg – Herscheid railway over a route in the urban area of Lüdenscheid and Herscheid, thus creating a connection between the Volme and Lennetal. However, this failed due to the high construction costs.
