history

The manor Grimminghausen was first mentioned in documents in 1406 in connection with a deed of sale between the Schade brothers and Hermann von Cobbenrode. After frequent changes of ownership, Grimminghausen fell to the von Plettenberg family in 1613 , who sold Grimminghausen to the von Mascherel family in 1656. Later Grimminghausen came to the barons of the Bottlenberg called Kessel zu Schloss Neuenhof and finally to the von dem Bussche-Ippenburg called Kessel . In the course of the 17th century the two-storey building with its farm yard was expanded. After renovations around 1800 and 1980–81, it is now privately owned. On the northwest side of the castle you can still see traces of the moats and the former outer wall.
