The village is located in the Solmeckal, a side valley of the verses . The distance to the city center of Werdohl is approx. 2 km as the crow flies. Embedded in the southwestern foothills of the Lennegebirge , the place is located on the northern edge of the Ebbegebirge Nature Park in the Sauerland .

history

The place name can be traced back to a hammer mill that was operated here from the 16th century. One card shows the existence of two hammer mills: the Henneckenhammer and the Kleinhammer.

In addition to this small industry, a number of rural properties were built in the immediate vicinity.

The year 1929 is the founding year of the Kleinhammer volunteer fire department .
