Elias Ladiver
Elias Ladiver (* around 1630 in Sillein ; † April 2, 1686 in Eperies ; also written Ladiwer ) was a Hungarian pedagogue and playwright.
Life
Born the son of the pastor of the same name († 1676), he attended high school in Sárospatak under Johann Amos Comenius in 1650 . On November 11, 1651 he moved to the University of Wittenberg , in 1653 became rector of the school in his birthplace and in 1659 went to Bartfeld as a teacher . After he had worked as a pastor in Teple for six months , he became a grammar school professor of logic and poetry at the college of the evangelical estates in Eperies in 1667. He had earned a reputation as a good expert on Aristotle .
In 1672 he fled from there because the Protestants had been persecuted in Hungary. About Danzig and Königsberg i. Drawing student, he found a new position in 1673 as extraordinary lecturer at the grammar school in Sibiu . In 1678 he became the rector of the Schäßburg Mountain School , wrote the school regulations there and created the institution's register . His writings are theological and philosophical in content. His most important student was Martin Kelp . In 1681 he again took over the leadership of the restored evangelical college in Eperies, which office he held until the end of his life.
