Stéphane Rossini (born August 9, 1963 in Sion , citizen of Valcolla ) is a Swiss social scientist and politician ( SP ). In 2015 he was President of the National Council .

biography

Rossini, who after an economic Matur his licentiate in political science and his doctorate in social sciences at the University of Lausanne made, is a professor and researcher in charge of the Master of Advanced Studies in Social Work and Social Policy at the University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland in Lausanne ( Haute école de travail social et de la santé ). He is also a lecturer at the Institute for Political Science at the University of Geneva . As an author, he wrote many scientific papers dealing with the Swiss welfare state.

Rossini was in the cantonal parliament of the canton of Valais between 1993 and 1999 . He was also a member of the National Council from 1999 to 2015 . There he was a member of the business audit commission, the commission for social security and health and the commission for the determination of the contributions of the resource, burden and hardship compensation. In 2014/15 he was President of the National Council .

On July 3, 2019, the Federal Council appointed Rossini Director of the Federal Social Insurance Office. He has held this office since December 1, 2019.

Rossini lives in Haute-Nendaz .
