Elias Charalambous (born September 25, 1980 in Johannesburg , South Africa ) is a former Cypriot soccer player . He played a total of 347 games in the Cypriot First Division , the Greek Super League and the Romanian League 1 . In 2001, 2003 and 2010 he won the Cypriot championship with Omonia Nicosia .
Career
Charalambous, who was born in South Africa, played with Omonia Nicosia since his youth . There he also began his professional career and played successfully for a long time in the club. For the 2005/06 season he moved to Greece to PAOK Saloniki , where he became a regular player. Nevertheless, after two years he went back to Omonia Nicosia. In the winter break of 2011/12 he moved to the German second division club Karlsruher SC , where he signed a contract until the end of the season. After this ran out, he went to the Romanian first division club FC Vaslui . With Vaslui he missed qualifying for the Europa League in the 2012/13 season and left the club in summer 2013. He returned to Cyprus, where Doxa Katokopia signed him. In January 2014, the Greek first division club Levadiakos signed him . There, too, he immediately became a regular. In summer 2014 he moved to AEK Larnaka . He ended his career there in the summer of 2017
From 2002 to 2014 he was in the Cypriot national team and played a total of 66 international matches.
