Elisabeth Maier (musicologist)

Elisabeth Maier (* 1947 in Vienna ) is an Austrian musicologist and Bruckner - researcher .

education

She studied music and theater studies ( doctorate in 1973) and specialist theology ( graduation in 2006) at the University of Vienna , and also piano at the Vienna Conservatory ( teaching qualification examination 1969, concert qualification examination 1971).

Professional activity

From 1970 to 1980 she was a research assistant at the International Library of Music (RISM) at the music collection of the Austrian National Library .

From 1981 to 1985 she worked as a freelancer , then until her retirement in 2005 as an employee in the commission for music research with a research focus on Anton Bruckner . She has been working there on a voluntary basis since the beginning of 2006 . From its founding in 1978 to 1987, she was initially an employee, then until September 2005 managing director of the Anton Bruckner Institute Linz (ABIL).

From 1971 to 1995 she worked as a piano teacher at a music school in the city of Vienna. As general secretary of the Vienna Catholic Academy, she has led the course program since 1993 and gives her own lectures.

Publications

Her list of publications includes a number of independent writings and articles, and she has also acted as editor and editor on several occasions. Her area of ​​activity also included the creation of lexicon articles, lecturing and helping to design exhibitions, television films, radio programs and reviews.

Award

In 2006 she was awarded the Culture Medal of the Province of Upper Austria .
