Elisabeth Stöppler
Elisabeth Stöppler (* 1977 in Hanover ) is a German music theater director . She is the winner of the German Theater Prize 2019 “Der Faust” for best direction in music theater .
Life
At the age of 14, Elisabeth Stöppler was a young student for piano at the Music Academy for Music, Theater and Media in Hanover with Konrad Meister . After graduating from high school, she spent a year studying drama in Rome. This was followed by studying music theater directing in Hamburg a. a. with Götz Friedrich , Peter Konwitschny , Christine Mielitz and Peter Mussbach . From 2001 to 2003 she was a scholarship holder of the Akademie Musiktheater heute and received the sponsorship award of the Deutsche Bank Foundation in 2003 for her diploma production .
Since the 2014/2015 season, Elisabeth Stöppler has been in-house director at the Staatstheater Mainz , where she has staged Simplicius Simplicissimus , Médée , Faust , Dialogues des Carmélites , Mathis der Maler and Don Carlo . She has been teaching directing at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater since 2018 .
Elisabeth Stöppler is married to the horn player Julius Rönnebeck and lives in Dresden .
