Götz Friedrich Prize
The Götz Friedrich Prize is named after the well-known music theater director Götz Friedrich and is endowed with 5,000 euros. The Götz Friedrich Foundation recognizes and promotes outstanding achievements in the field of music theater directing and awards the prize for the purpose of promoting young talent.

Studio price
Since the 2009/10 season, the foundation has also been awarding a studio prize endowed with 2,500 euros. This prize is intended to honor the best director in the field of children's music theater, experimental music theater or chamber opera.

In 2015 two additional prizes were awarded:
- The special carpentry prize includes the invitation to a production at this venue of the Deutsche Oper Berlin and was awarded to Maximilian von Mayenburg for Xerxes .
- The newly donated Karan Armstrong Prize (named after the singer Karan Armstrong , the widow after Götz Friedrich) went to Martin G. Berger for his staging of Johann Strauss' Bat at the Hanover State Theater .
