The DomStufen-Festspiele in Erfurt is an open-air festival in Thuringia , which was re-founded in 1994 by Erfurt's then General Manager Dietrich Taube , based on the example of the Erfurt Cathedral Stage Games that took place in the 1960s .
The DomStufen Festival takes place every summer on the cathedral steps in front of the backdrop of the Erfurt Cathedral and the Severikirche and lasts three weeks, with one piece being performed on several evenings. The organizer is the Erfurt Theater . In 2013 the festival had 32,400 visitors. In 2018 the festival had 42,100 visitors.
